Nicollet County Board of Commissioners Hold Budget and Tax Levy Meeting

The Nicollet County Board of Commissioners held their regular board meeting on December 12 and their Tax Levy meeting on December 7.

The tax levy meeting includes a portion for public input. The tax levy meeting began at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the 2024 levy. Board Chair Jack Kolars presided over the meeting. Commissioners present included Terry Morrow, Marie Dranttel, Mark Dehen and Kurt Zins. County Administrator Mary Landkammer, Finance Director Heather McCormick, Property & Public Services Director Jaci Kopet, and Recording Secretary Sarah Frahm were also in attendance at the meeting. Kolars directed anyone with questions to Kopet to speak individually.

Landkammer presented a detailed overview of the budget and tax levy that were proposed for 2024. The budget is $56,929,105 for 2024. The levy increase amount is $26,410,973. That is equal to a 3.5 percent increase. She also compared levy data to current trends. Increased market costs related to equipment, wages and services in the county impact the budget and levy, she explained.
